The interview with Oprah did nothing to change the minds of those who didn’t like Meghan Markle. Oh no — it was another opportunity for a pile-on of the formerly-royal couple including Harry, now personas non-grata. Is it any surprise? For some of us, no. For others, yes. It’s also safe to say that of the latter group, this awakening to the reality of overt and covert racism is a revelation that they didn’t know they wanted — or needed. And yet, there was no way around it. Racism is real. If someone of the profile, fame and wealth such as Meghan Markle can me demonized, what does that say about the experiences of the rest of us? how will this ongoing saga play out in the weeks and months to come?
